Hello, since i own a PSP, i understand what a terrifying process customizing seems like at first. The owners manual tells you the basic function, but if you want to do anything more than play the UMD’s (Universal Media Disk) bought at the stores then you’ll have to do some research/work.

How to Put Music On Your PSP

It may seem easy at first, but to some people even a task as simple as putting music on your PSP may seem difficult, especially since it isnt explained well in the manual. The fist thing you need to do is connect your psp to your computer with a USB 2.0 cord and put your PSP on connect mode. (Connect mode can be found in the settings section) After your PSP has been connected succesfully you should be prompted on how you want to view the files. Select “Use Folder to View Files”. After this, a folder should pop up with the single folder in it called “PSP”. Open this folder and within it create a folder called “MUSIC”. This exact format is vital. After you have the folder created you can simply drag and drop music into this folder. (If you have not downloaded the updates or your PSP does not have the latest update you can only play MP3 files.)

How to Put Videos on Your PSP

To put movies on your PSP, simply make a folder under PSP similar to the “MUSIC” folder, but entitled “VIDEO”. After this folder has been created, you can drag and drop any properly formated video into the folder. The video format supported by the PSP is MPEG4, which is the same format as in the Ipod. If you want to know how to convert videos into MPEG4 format, i have supplied a great tutorial in a previous post which can be found here: http://flitools.com/?p=36

These are just the two most common ways to customize your PSP, if your extremely technologically savvy, you can go to mycustompsp.com which will teach you everything you will ever need to know about the different firmwares and how to download and play games on your psp.

Enjoy!
