As a proof that emails don’t always bring in good news, here is an abstract of the email I have just received from NameCheap informing me of domain prices going up:
“Because select registries are increasing the prices of domains to us, the prices of .com, .net, .org and .info domains are going up 40 cents to $9.69. This will be an industry wide change and will affect all registrars effective in October. This is an increase that is being forced upon us by the registries that handle these extensions.”
While oil prices have crossed the $100 losing more than $50, it seems that Internet actors want to get their share of the worldwide price increases!
Of course, there is only one advice I can give: renew your domains before October to save some cents.
